In partnership with the Veterans Coordination Commission, we are pleased to present the April, 2008 Veteran of the Month Recognition to David J. Schram. David Scharm served in the United States Marines Corps from November, 1968 to November 1971. His basic training and infantry training was in California then to Vietnam from June 1969 to August 1970 as a Corporal E-4 providing convoy security and engaging the enemy when necessary. David was stationed at DaNang Vietnam during his war time duty. He was honorably discharged in November 1971 earning the US Vietnam Service Medal and VCM. David is a volunteer at the
Rapid City Vet Center and has served two and three days a week for the
past fifteen years. He has given of himself without pay or reward and
takes the extra steps to assist veterans with their needs and referrals.
The first to volunteer, David is compassionate and eager to enable veterans
to see their benefits and referrals. He is a model Vietnam Veteran and
a credit to himself and the United States Marine Corps.
